Veneers in the Centre of Hamburg

Teeth can show such a strong discolouration that bleaching alone would not lead to the desired result. Thin ceramic bowls, called veneers, can then help – they are glued to the front of the teeth, where they find secure hold.

In particular, the so-called non-prep veneers, which make the grinding of teeth superfluous, are as thin as contact lenses: translucent, tooth-coloured, extremely resilient and biocompatible, they represent an ideal material for an appealing appearance of the teeth.

With veneers, not only the tooth colour can be optimized, but also:

  • Close tooth gaps
  • Straighten crooked teeth
  • Correct errors in the tooth form

Advantages of the Zahnklinik ABC Bogen

The prerequisite for the success of veneers is sound aesthetic planning, during which we take your wishes into account. We take a lot of time to make the result predictable for you with state-of-the-art technology. We provide sound advice on whether non-prep veneers or conventional veneers are better suited for you.

Only highly qualified ceramic technicians can manufacture these wafer-thin ceramic bowls perfectly. Correct production places the highest demands on technology and material. Therefore, we exclusively manufacture your veneers in our own dental laboratory. The close cooperation of our experienced dentists with our dental technicians can achieve results that are on par with beautiful natural teeth.

Types of Veneers

Overall, a distinction is made between four different types of veneers, which differ in strength, attachment and material. The method of choice depends on the individual condition of the teeth before treatment.

Conventional Veneers

They are made of ceramic and are up to a millimetre thick. The adjustment of these veneers to your tooth shape is carried out by specialists in the laboratory. For this, the outer surface of the tooth is slightly abraded, which requires local anaesthesia. This is followed by the gluing process, which takes about half an hour.

Non-Prep Veneers (eg. Lumineers)

This veneer type is only about 0.3 millimetres thick, that means they are significantly thinner than the conventional veneers. To attach them, the teeth don’t have to be prepared (no grinding or abrading). Instead, we can immediately take the impression and make the shells.

In this way, the tooth substance is spared, anaesthesia is not necessary. With a special adhesive, the veneers are securely attached to the tooth. This kind of veneer treatment is usually completely painless.

Veneers-to-Go

They are also called “instant veneers” and consist of either full ceramic or a plastic-ceramic mixture. They can be easily fixed onto the tooth after it has slightly been ground.

Veneers-to-go are custom-made to the shape of your tooth on site in our dental clinic and glued in the same session. Last but not least, this fast procedure is very cost-saving, since the entire treatment with standardised veneer templates can be done in one session, which eliminates the expense of the laboratory.

Composite Veneers

This type of veneer is made of special dental plastics. Just like the instant veneers, they are also applied directly on site. The difference, however, is that composite veneers are temporary, which can safely bridge the manufacturing time for the production of permanent veneers in the laboratory.

Course of Treatment

The treatment proceeds in several steps, outlined below.

1. Joint Aesthetic Planning

After a previous professional tooth cleaning and a periodontitis screening, impressions are taken to create a so-called wax-up on a plaster model. On the basis of photos and, if necessary, a 3D simulation by means of photo-optical procedures, we plan the desired treatment result together with you and our veneer specialist.

2. Mock-Up (if desired)

With thin temporary appliances made of plastic we visualise the changes in the tooth shape on your teeth. Our specialists can immediately make changes according to your wishes.

3. Apply Non-Prep Veneers

The ceramic bowls are applied directly to the teeth using a special adhesive technique. To fix your veneers safely and aesthetically correct onto your teeth, it requires a lot of experience by the treating specialist. Although these thin ceramic bowls are very fragile, once bonded to the tooth, they are extremely strong and durable.

4. Apply Conventional Veneers

For this purpose, the tooth is slightly ground on the visible outer side, with hardly any tooth substance being lost. Intact plastic fillings remain, old plastic fillings are removed and renewed. The further course is similar to the treatment of non-prep veneers.

Frequently Asked Questions

As an experienced specialist in dental aesthetics, Kathi Friedrich will gladly advise you on any questions.

Heavily coloured foods such as red wine, coffee and tea can discolour teeth. If the discoloration is only on the surface, it can be solved with a professional tooth cleaning. Sometimes, however, the dyes have already sunk into the enamel, so they can no longer be dissolved. Then we recommend bleaching or other aesthetic solutions.

Simple, inexpensive veneers consist of a pressed glass core and are painted tooth-coloured. They cannot be custom-made and will turn grey after a while, just as glass gets dull. We only use veneers that are individually colour-coated from high-quality ceramics. This so-called CREATION CT ceramic is unsurpassed in its translucency, colour fastness and naturalness.

No, the ceramic bowls are insensitive to food dyes. With good care, veneers remain undamaged and colour-stable.

Veneers are only suitable for crunchers when a crunching bar is worn at night. This ensures that the ceramic and the untreated teeth are spared.

The tooth is roughened with a liquid for 30 seconds. The tooth-coloured material is then applied in layers and firmly bonded to your own tooth using a proven adhesive technique. The last step is the refinement of the form with a diamond finish and gloss polishing. This process is painless, since the tooth substance is completely preserved and does not have to be ground or drilled away. Of course, we take your own aesthetic ideas into account before, during and after the dental treatment.

It is high quality plastic, which consists of acrylate and silicon components. Incidentally, modern composites do not change colour. Only the surface can, just like your own tooth discolour when you drink red wine, tea or coffee. However, these discolorations can be removed by polishing.

Yes, and the plastic is available in a wide range of tooth colours and different degrees of translucency.

Given optimal bonding and good dental care (flossing is necessary!) caries cannot develop. Very thin composites connect the veneer and tooth tightly together. Normally, bacteria cannot get between the teeth and veneers. The prerequisite is, of course, that the treating expert is very experienced in the application of thin ceramic ceneers.
