Incognito® Brackets in the Centre of Hamburg
The so-called lingual method is an orthodontical treatment, with which a permanent bracket can be fastened onto the insides of your teeth (that is where the “lingual” comes from). It is an aesthetically pleasing correction of malpositioned teeth, that is invisible from the outside. Commonly referred to as “invisible braces”, this apparatus consists of brackets made for you in our laboratory and small attachments that are bonded onto the insides of the teeth.
Very fine, arched wires are deployed to correct the position. One of the particularities of this form of treatment is the fact, that the wires are made individually for you with a computer-assisted bending machine. This way, the bracket can be made very thin.

Advantages of the Zahnklinik ABC Bogen
In our dental clinic, a gentle and safe treatment by our leading specialists is guaranteed. You can benefit from the long-standing experience and close cooperation of our experts in various disciplines of modern dentistry. In the following, you can find the advantages of a treatment with the lingual method in our clinic:
- Invisible, permanent apparatus
- Precise 3D planning
- The course of the treatment can be easily documented, because no brackets or wires are obscuring your teeth
Because the insides of the teeth are less susceptible to decalcification and infections like caries, the risk of lasting damages to the teeth is very low when using the lingual method (compared to permanent braces on the outside of the teeth)
Procedure of the Treatment
During a comprehensive first consultation and a thorough examination, we will determine if the lingual method is a suitable treatment for you.
If this is the case, we will make a scan or take a silicon impression of your teeth. In our laboratory, your individual lingual system will be manufactured in a multi-layered process with the help of the computer.
During the following appointment, we can bond the thin brackets onto the insides of your teeth and connect them with a preformed wire. In the weeks that follow, you can see step by step the progress of the course of your treatment.
Using the lingual method, there will be a slightly longer setting-in period necessary compared to a treatment with permanent braces. This is due to the fact that the area around the tongue can feel slightly more restricted by the brackets and wires. During this period, the pronunciation can be impaired as well, and in some cases problems with the tongue occur because of the unusual foreign body in the mouth.
That is why, it is important to have regular check-ups to identify and treat any complications by our trained specialists. After the successful treatment with the lingual method, a treatment with so-called retainers can help to secure the results. We will make sure you get all the necessary information during your treatment.
Incognito® and WIN®-Brackets
In order to use the lingual method in the most up-to-date way and to guarantee the best possible outcome, we use the Incognito®-bracket system as well as WIN®. In regards to their design and the way they are manufactured, these state-of-the-art apparatuses are different from those used in the past.
Thanks to modern CAD/CAM technology, the brackets can be made within one go (as opposed to the usual two-step process). If possible, the fastening of the brackets onto the teeth can be done in the same session. That way, we can make sure the brackets are custom-made for you and minimise the space they need in the mouth – this also mitigates the risks of complications.
Costs for a Treatment with the Lingual Method
The costs for your individual lingual treatment and Incognito®- or WIN®-brackets depend on the condition of your teeth. We are here to make sure to consult you about any costs involved, particularly after your examination and after your health insurance has sent your personal therapeutic and cost schedule. We are happy also to give you helpful advice and go through possible alternatives.
